Colours of the Rainbow

Sometimes the best words are said within the simplest pictures. That little orange envelope full of smiles.

It was a slow day in school, absent teacher, students loitering between classes-- slow day. I was sitting with my friends when, a girl called out to me from behind the class door, peeking through, showing enough for  me to recognize who she was. There wasn't much said, only a bright orange envelope with my name written on it with a smiley on it, she handed it to me, said it was from  someone. In it was a heartwarming card, hand painted, and a long note with it, neatly written I must say. Me being a slow reader, taking as much time as I could reading your notes. Line by line.

I remember you loved to paint, wonder if you still do. Your paintings never fail to inspire me, the one of a boy and a girl, both in white, holding hands. Huge, contagious smiles. Remember those days? Remember patrick? Boy, how immature we were. Now we're all grown up, both with our own ways. Though we may still talk, I doubt it would be  the same. You're still, and will always be my buddy.

Months ago I received another letter in an envelope, but it was from someone else. It reminded me of you-- she, reminded me of you. But that letter took me on a walk on memory lane, remembering you--remembering us. I fear the same might happen. Until today I am unsure of my actions. I fear, I might lose another friend, as I have lost you in the past. The years putting back the  pieces were harsh.

In the end, it will only be memories. Either we want to or not, we have to move on.
