Family Values

Today I'd like to share two idioms I learned from my family that are never to be used in any essays. I present to you;

1. Only dead fish go with the flow ( from my brother, don't know if he sourced it from someone else)

Not in the context of actually 'going with the flow' used  by the norm. But going all 'meh' in everything you do, and 'why not..' in a very passive manner. Instead be 'alive', swim against the flow, go at  your will even when everything around you is moving against you.  It might take you to someplace new, it might not, but it will give you an  identity.

2. The grass is greener over the septic tank (by my mom, innovated from the phrase the grass is always greener on the other side, sort off)

It is to our  logic that when  we see people who have more of  what we want, are happier than we are. It may seem as though they are on that green, happy field, but they also have to bear the stench from the....you know. What we see is the green field, not the odour. What we should, is be thankful with what we have (differs depending on the context). Sometimes you only realize you've screwed up, after you've screwed up. By then it won't be easy to undo what has been done.

So there ya have it! Man this is a short post...stay tuned for the next episode of..this is not working out.. e.e
